Power In The Word

We began as Power In The Word Ministries (PWM) on December 7, 1986 with fifteen persons, including six children. The Lord has subsequently added to us to where we are today.

Power In The Word Ministries is an independent, non-denominational church persuaded that God’s will must be done God’s way. Hence, we are committed to the integrity of God’s Word and so seek biblical support for our actions. We allow the Holy Spirit to direct all aspects of church life.

It is the desire of PWM to develop a mature spiritual environment that will allow the Holy Spirit to minister to the body as He chooses in an atmosphere of deep and genuine fellowship with God and one another.

It is our intention to fill the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, beginning with Jamaica. We expect to see associated PWM established as directed by the Holy Spirit within the nation and overseas. PWM is growing and we anticipate seeing continuous and rapid growth in the days ahead as together we build the vision to the glory of God.

Our Mission

Power In The Word Ministries strive to build a people to become disciple makers and nation changers, taking their place in national life, serving and influencing society for righteousness, truth and justice.

We exists to help broken people know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make a difference for God’s glory

We do this in four primary ways:

We help people know God primarily through our weekend worship experience.
We help people find freedom by being part of a small group.
We help people discover their purpose through what we call Growth Track.
We help people make a difference by serving our community and our world together.

Our Vision

To develop a transformed community of people from every standpoint – spiritual, economic, social and so on – as a practical demonstration of the Kingdom of God at work.
To develop a mature spiritual environment that will allow the Holy Spirit to minister to the body as He chooses, in an atmosphere of deep and genuine fellowship with God and one another.
To train men and women for effective ministry through a Bible Study Programme.
To have a strong programme of training and development for our children and young people. Therefore we will be involved in formal education (nursery, preparatory school, evening studies, etc.).
To fill the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ, beginning with Jamaica. To see associated fellowships established as directed by the Holy Spirit.
To create a fellowship centered on the concept of family, hence the need to produce an effective small group culture, prayer culture and service culture.
To invest and be involved in business for the benefit of our members. We believe that God wants us to prosper and be successful in every area. We will develop programmes and initiatives that promote savings and wealth creation.
